Alcohol Submenu

KNOW THE SCORE - HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?
When does someone cross that boundary between recreational alcohol use and dependence?
The following is not a complete list but may indicate a problem:

  • Are you aware that you are now drinking more?
  • Do you need time off work due to a hangover or regularly have a hangover?
  • Are you using alcohol to block out feelings or thoughts?
  • Do you have arguments with friends or family about your drinking?
  • Do you drink to cure a hangover?

WANT TO CHANGE YOUR SCORE?
If you think your drinking is becoming a problem, try the following tips:

  • Aim for at least 2 alcohol free days every week
  • Go for a spacer instead of a chaser - have a soft drink between the alcohol
  • Try not to drink in rounds but at your own pace
  • Don't drink on an empty stomach
  • Keep a drink diary - work out how much you are drinking, when and where
