WHAT IS STRESS?
Stress is something we all experience and is a normal part of life. It has positive
and negative influences - it can compel us to action and act as a natural defence
system but can also cause feelings of anger and depression which can lead to health
problems. Alcohol is often seen as a ‘stress reliever’ and a way of winding down but
overuse of alcohol can cause stress rather than help.

WHAT IS STRESS MANAGEMENT?
Finding a way to handle the different stresses in life and identify a level where the stress
will motivate but not overwhelm. By learning to respond to stress with awareness, you
will be more in control over how you feel and react.

WHAT DOES STRESS MANAGEMENT INVOLVE?

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Massage
  • Aromatherapy
  • Beauty therapy
  • Tai chi

It is vital when using these therapies that your system is alcohol-free.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
Any of our adult client groups and their families who are currently or have recently
undergone counselling can attend stress management.
